How to Rock the Bells Off of Your Social Media Marketing Strategy this Holiday Season

Holiday Post

The holidays are the busiest, craziest time of the year. But, many business owners welcome the chaos as they know that this is a critical time for seeing revenue growth. Most retailers make the most money during the holidays than any other time of the year. In fact, recent statistics show that 20 to 40 percent of yearly sales for small and mid-sized retailers take place during this time of the year.

In a perfect world, I am writing this blog post way too late for you. You have probably started working  on your holiday themed social media marketing strategy back in July. You might be saying, “I can teach her a thing or two about this.” If so, that is awesome!

But, if you are like many people out there, the procrastination bug has gotten the best of you again. If this is the case, have no fear.  The following tips will get you on track quicker than Santa can say Ho Ho Ho.

1. Plan Ahead – Your leads and prospects will be hit with hundreds of marketing messages per day during the holiday season. Because you will be competing to be heard among all of this chatter, planning ahead is the one way that you can stay ahead of your competition and get your brand heard and recognized. The main goal is for you to establish relationships with your audience and become a household name and you want to achieve this early on. One way to do this is to  engage your audiences across various social media platforms with quality content that they love. You don’t want to be too salesy with your social media posts. The goal is to have genuine interactions with your audience. If this is done well, your company will be at the top of mind when your leads and prospects are ready to make a buying decision.

2. Analyze What’s Working Now – Why reinvent the wheel for your holiday themed social media marketing strategy? The best strategy will take into account the types of content your audience likes, interacts and engages with. The strategy will give your audience more of this content and during optimal times that they are present on social media to view it. The best way to find out more about your audience is by analyzing your social media metrics.  By using social media metric tools, you will be able to connect to your customers and get valuable insights on their preferences. This should be done before your social media marketing strategy is well underway.

3. Optimize Your Social Media Pages and Profiles – Adding a Santa hat, reindeer antlers or a Christmas tree to your Facebook profile picture is a great way to get your leads and prospects in the Holiday spirit. Also, don’t forget about Facebook  contests and promotions. These are great ways to get your audience on board and can spread greater awareness for your brand. Nothing says “We are anti-Scrooge,” like a nice giveaway. Keep in mind that consistency is key when it comes to social media marketing. So, it’s best to choose one holiday theme and stick with it across all of your social media profiles.

Hope this helps with getting your social media marketing in time for the Holiday Season. So, has your company starting optimizing your social media profiles for the holiday season? If so, let us know and feel free to leave a link of an example below:
